Kura Studio's founder Mihoko Tanaka trained as a tea-house carpenter before turning to furniture. Each of her tables is drawn to the proportions of the room it will inhabit. Her pieces use only hand-cut joinery and never receive a synthetic finish.

Five years in, the oil finish has only deepened. We re-coated once and it looks new.
