Pulling the drawing…
Steam-bent armrests, three-degree back, hand-cane seat. Bench-built in a Norwegian oak workshop.
Foundry No. 7 marries a 50 mm walnut slab with hand-welded steel. Built for the long evening.
Kura Studio sizes every table to the room it will inhabit. 6–12 weeks. Signed and stamped.
On Sundays the editor opens the drafting room. Six pieces from the workshops we visited that week; six from the standing line. The pieces that survive the walk make the room.

Until they ship
Eight pieces newly arrived from the workshops — drawn, measured, signed.
Rooms · floor plan
Each season we choose one workshop to anchor the floor — their lumber, their joinery, their week.
Oslo · Est. 2009
Halden & Co. cut their first chair from a single fallen oak on the Akerselva in 2009. The workshop still operates on the same five-man pattern — designer, two joiners, a finisher, an apprentice — and refuses to use particleboard, biscuit joints or particle-glue. Every piece is signed and stamped with the year of design.

Spring 2026 · From the editor
The Spring 2026 floor opens with three pieces drawn for the long evening — a dining table for eight, a pair of pendants and a sideboard for the wines. From there it loosens: a reading chair, a low-line keyaki table, an octagonal plinth in Carrara, a bookcase of riven maple. The current is, as ever, the same: every piece is made by a workshop you can phone, on a drawing you can read.
Catalogues group pieces by mood, material or budget — no algorithm, no sponsored slots.

The workshop
PLANE is a marketplace of independent workshops, organized as a drafting studio. We choose less. We choose what falls together.
Read the long version01 · Drawn
Each piece is shipped with the original scaled drawing — elevation, plan, section, axonometric. The drawing is the warranty.
02 · Sourced
We name the forest, the mill, the lot number. Maple from Vermont. Oak from the Akerselva. Keyaki from Akita. The supply chain is the story.
03 · Signed
Every workshop signs and numbers the piece. Limited editions ship with a paper certificate, hand-stamped by the maker.
04 · Repaired
Send the piece back. Re-oiled, re-caned, re-finished by the original workshop. Free for the life of the piece, freight paid by us.
